7 Types of Fishermen - In which category are you?
Shari
Fishing it's not just a hobby, but a real lifestyle. Each angler has his own approach – some seek relaxation, others competition. No matter where you are, fishing is all about passion, strategy and sometimes a lot of patience. Find out in the lines below what type of fisherman you are!

1. The Escaping Fisherman - "I'm running away from home, the rest doesn't matter!"
For the Escaper, fishing is just a great reason to get out of the house, sometimes under the watchful eye of his wife, and spend time outdoors. The location doesn't matter, as long as he has access to a comfortable chair, a cold drink and some friends ready to have fun. Savvy conversations and automatic fire jokes are more important than any fishing technique.
If you ask him about strategies, he will most likely shrug and answer with a smile, "Strategy? We haven't finished grilling yet!" More often than not, he comes home smiling and tired because he took the old saying too seriously: "Don't drink... don't catch!"
Equipment: Minimal – an old fishing rod and a comfortable chair (if he forgot something at home, that's not the end of the world either).
Alcohol consumption: No number… until the movie cuts…
Fishing party cost: Reduced – food and drink are the main expenses.
Target: Anything, as long as it's effortless and there's cold beer.
Stress level: 1/10 | Relaxation level: 10/10
2. The Zen Fisherman - "Leave stress at home and recharge with nature!"
This is the fisherman who spends his weekend mornings at the water's edge, away from the noise of the city. He aims to stay for a few hours, enjoy nature and forget about the problems at work.
He doesn't invest too much in equipment, preferring to take only the bare essentials: a decent rod, some bait and a folding chair. If he catches fish, it's a bonus; if not, it still comes back with charged batteries. He can be recognized by his optimistic attitude and the smile with which he greets the day.
Motorcycle: "A good day fishing beats any day at the office!"
Equipment: Basic rod and some universal lures.
Alcohol consumption: It's not mandatory... but 1-2 glasses of whiskey and a few beers will do, if he's not a driver.
Fishing party cost: Reduced to medium.
Target: Catch anything... but catch!
Stress level: 3/10 | Relaxation level: 8/10
3. The Exploratory Angler - "I'm just getting started, but the urge to drill pushes me on!"
The Explorer Angler is fascinated by all the details of fishing and wants to know every technique and type of bait. He is not afraid of failure, he even sees in every outing an opportunity to learn something new. He keeps an eye on online tutorials and maybe even carries a small notebook where he notes his conclusions after each game. Sometimes, lost in the excitement of discoveries, he forgets to rest. But it doesn't matter - ambition makes him evolve quickly.
At the same time, he doesn't want to turn fishing into a source of stress. He likes to have well-tuned equipment, but allows himself to experiment with new ideas and sophisticated methods without making a fuss if something doesn't work. He generally chooses his fishing spots with an enjoyable experience in mind. Enjoy a thermos of coffee early in the morning, admiring the sunrise, and stay relaxed even if you don't have impressive catches. If something big comes up on the hook, he rejoices like a child; if not, he consoles himself with the thought that next time will be better.
Motorcycle: "From every small failure, a big success is born in the next release!" / "Seriously, but not really!"
Equipment: Performance rods, but without exaggerations.
Alcohol consumption: When it's cold, you need something "antifreeze", and when it's very hot, a case of beer works... otherwise it gets dehydrated and can't launch as and where it should...
Fishing party cost: Medium to high.
Target: As many catches as possible, and if possible, as big as possible!
Stress level: 5/10 | Relaxation level: 7/10
4. Capital Catch Fisherman - "Big Carp or Nothing!"
For this angler, any carp under 10 kg is just training. He hunts exclusively the huge specimens, 20 kg and over, and is prepared to spend days on the water's edge. They have plenty of patience, knowing that a big carp doesn't usually come in the first 24 hours, but calmly wait for the perfect moment. To make the selection, I use larger mounts and only fish with 24, even 30 mm boilies, convinced that this way they will arouse the interest of the most imposing specimens. I usually choose the Inception or SpitFire boilies from Myon Baits in Belecan & Crab or Spicy Frankfurter flavors as these combinations have yielded numerous personal bests and have proven reliable. Not to mention the enthusiasm with which he awaits his new personal record, over 30 kg, just good enough to put on his Facebook profile picture.
He knows the pond to the smallest detail, researches the behavior of the carp at various temperatures and changes the mounts as often as necessary until he feels he has found the perfect recipe. Some would call him obsessive, but he prefers to say he's meticulous. When the rod finally bows under the force of a real monster, it feels like all the sleepless nights, money invested and every minute adjustment was totally worth it.
Motorcycle: "Better a 20+ kg titan than an army of squires!"
Equipment: Top rods, premium boilies.
Alcohol consumption: Depending on the length of the game, prepare a few kegs of beer and a good plum brandy, but don't overdo it — if the 28.14 kg dream anchor comes, how to pose him if he's dizzy? Must be fit!
Fishing party cost: Big – every detail counts.
Target: Change their profile picture to a new 30+ kg personal best!
Stress level: 5/10 | Relaxation level: 7/10
5. Advanced Angler - "I have a plan, I know what I'm doing!"
The Advanced Angler is long past the experimentation stage and knows exactly what needs to be done to be successful at fishing. Easily "reads" your pond and understands fish behavior based on weather conditions, season and water type. He has a well-formed fishing style, being confident in his tactics, but also open to new challenges.
He thoroughly researched and tested many brands of boilies, but came to fully trust Myon Baits, especially the RED Brutality range, which brought him outstanding results. Whether on a well-known lake or a completely new place, he adapts his strategy quickly, paying attention to the smallest details. He is well informed, follows trends in the field and changes his approach whenever he feels the need.
You can easily recognize him on the pond: he usually manages to catch more and better than other fishermen around, always confirming his reputation as an experienced fisherman.
Motorcycle: "I think, I aim and I achieve my goal, without a doubt!"
Equipment: Top quality rods, accessories and premium boilies.
Alcohol consumption: He prefers moderation. An occasional drink for socializing, but must remain lucid and focused on fishing strategy.
Fishing party cost: Elevated.
Target: Lots of big catches with a well planned approach.
Stress level: 7/10 | Relaxation level: 5/10
6. The Competitive Fisherman - "Fishing is a competition!"
The competitor sees fishing as a full-fledged sport. Every outing is a workout, every catch – a step forward to the podium. Always chat with other anglers, compare results and analyze statistics.
If there's no clear stake—a prize, a leaderboard, or a challenge—his interest is instantly lost. He likes formal competitions and usually only participates in contests, avoiding regular fishing outings. He has everything prepared from home and is ready for any situation, from sudden weather changes to last-minute surprise tactics.
Don't take too many pictures of the fish unless they are over 20kg. If you hear him talking about "performances" instead of "features" or saying "I managed to score" instead of "I caught a fish", know that you are talking to a real Competitor. For him, fishing is the ultimate challenge and satisfaction comes from trophies, rankings and the adrenaline of competition.
Motorcycle: "Every game is a training session!"
Equipment: Only the top, adapted for competitions.
Alcohol consumption: Almost non-existent. Before the contest or at the draw, accept a schnapps... but that's it!
Fishing party cost: Very high.
Target: Top places and trophies.
Stress level: 9/10 | Relaxation level: 3/10
7. The Extreme Fisherman - "All or Nothing!"
The Extreme Fisherman isn't just content with catching big fish or participating in local competitions. He wants to break world records and always push his limits.
He doesn't shy away from investing considerable sums in state-of-the-art equipment, and his dedication is downright impressive. Regular fishing days are too boring for him – he needs challenges on a grand scale.
They represent the elite: anglers who catch fish every time and are almost always in the top 3 in any contest, on any lake. For them, fishing is everything—they even dream about it at night. Fishing becomes real hard work: they work almost without a break, and their rest time is very short and well calculated. He doesn't leave anything to chance: he knows by heart not only the pond, but also every stand on it. They are aware that any mistake, no matter how small, can cost them the podium. Outsiders don't understand the science and strategy behind this style of fishing, but the Extreme Angler has vast experience and quickly picks up on what works and what doesn't.
In addition, they invest a lot of time and money, convinced that only through training and practice you can stay in the top. They are extremely organized — every detail is worked out, and the team members know exactly what they have to do from the first hour of fishing. They take fishing to the level of art and science, and the results speak for themselves.
Motorcycle: "With determination and a dream of the world title, nothing stops us from conquering every podium!"
Equipment: Only state-of-the-art equipment.
Alcohol consumption: It's out of the question — ZERO! Even one beer makes you sick.
Fishing party cost: Extremely high.
Target: International trophies and global recognition… and why not, to be WORLD CHAMPION!!
Stress level: 10/10 | Relaxation level: 1/10
