For some people, fishing is just a good excuse to get out of the house. Spending a few days in the company of friends, socializing and relaxing on the water's edge, an opportunity to escape the everyday, to reconnect with nature.
For us, the members of Myon Baits is much more. It's a way of life!
We prepared for a friendly match among the members of Myon Baits at Sacoșul Turcesc, as since autumn 2019 for the period of May 14-17, 2020.
The madness with the pandemic stopped us from going out and doing what we love most. That is, fishing. Until the last moment, we hoped that we could go out together with friends and hold a fishing party. "The stars aligned" (the state of emergency had been lifted) and on the night of May 14/15 (Thursday to Friday), we set off to Sacoșul Turcesc with an insane desire to fish.
On Friday morning, we arrived at the pond, set up, baited with dough balls made from boiled seeds, 20 mm crushed boilies, EcoSquid Groundbait together with ECOSquid activator, and cast our rigs into the water. The carp feeder placed us at stand 24, a spot that, according to the experts, seemed very good.
After the basic baiting, we had some presentations, somewhere between 12.5 - 14.00 kg. The rigs were fine, for capricious carp that didn't start feeding as is known at this location.
On the first evening - "at the first weigh-in" we were informed that we might be in first place for quality. After a look exchanged with my partner Ștefan (Firefighters Team), we decided that, from a match that was announced as "easy," we would try to make a good impression. We had everything needed for that. It wasn't a very successful day from our point of view, so hearing we were at the top... gave us a dose of adrenaline, a certain feeling of satisfaction.
For the first night, we planned to fish with EcoSquid 20 mm Boilies Cobra from the ECOSquid range.
The results didn't hesitate to appear. After activating the baiting bed, with few exceptions, most started to show presentations of different sizes, the fish responded very well to the baiting, with an average weight of over 15 kg.
At one point, the wind began to blow strongly and until morning, no notable results were recorded.
The second day started with presentations at almost all stands, especially those that were somewhat in the middle and nearby. The less noticeable results were for the teams positioned at the edge stands, but even these had presentations.
The night of the second day was very productive and we managed to put carp on the mat measuring around 16-18 kg. We continued baiting with Cobra, and the results quickly followed. Both team members achieved PBs with catches of 20 kg and 19 kg respectively.
By the tackle, we used mostly Hookbait Boilies Red SquidPill and Critice Dumbell EcoSquid.
In the end, Firefighters Team managed to rank first in the Best 5 section.
The spirit of fair play dominated throughout the entire match.
The key to the match was undoubtedly the positive approach that can yield unexpected results if we fight until the end, during the days of late spring, ...... despite the oscillating temperatures between day and night!!!.
